Dropping Inn Tournament Saturday 16 May

The Golf Club was especially busy over the weekend of May 16 -17 with the running of two tournaments for members.

The Dropping Inn tournament sponsored by Matt Lamming (Hawea Hotel & The Tree House) held on Saturday attracted a large field of over 100 players. Scoring was very competitive

It was a beautiful day in Wanaka today for the 9Hole Women’s Tournament. Please see below results of the day:

Hirepool Charity Classic Trilogy 2026

We hope you enjoyed the The 2026 Hirepool Charity Classic Trilogy. This is a final “wrap up” of the event, please pass it on to your team members.

Thank you to everyone for taking part, and for your generosity, ensuring that this year’s event was another fundraising and golfing success. It was good to see our regular travelling teams again.

Over $48,000 was raised for Community Link Upper Clutha, a great result and a record amount, bringing the total raised for local charities over the tournament’s 23 year history to just under $600,000.

The golf was keenly contested with significant moves both up and down (!) the leaderboards on days 2 and 3. All 3 divisions had very close finishes. Congratulations to our Trophy winners:

– Women’s Hirepool Trophy – Mandy Clarke’s team

– Men’s Div 1 Hirepool Trophy – Gary Ponting’s team

– Men’s Div 2 Richard Ewing Memorial Trophy – Mark Anderson’s team

The Committee wishes to thank Craig Palmer of Golf Genius for his support and guidance over the last 4 months. The use of Golf Genius software delivered significant benefits across all aspects of tournament administration. We will be using Golf Genius again in 2027.

98% of scorecards were entered via the Golf Genius app. Thank you to everyone that made that high number reality. Scorecard verification was simpler, results published faster, and we had exciting “live” leaderboards for the first time!

We will be in contact in early January 2027 regarding the 24th Hirepool Charity Classic Trilogy to be held on Fri 19, Sat 20, Sun 21 March 2027.

The 2026 Hirepool Charity Classic Trilogy Organising Committee

Central Otago Autumn Golf Classic 2026 – 5 Courses

Front 9 Golf will be managing the Central Otago Autumn Golf Classic in March 2026. Teeing off on Sunday 15th March, golfers will play Alexandra Golf Course, Arrowtown Golf Course, Cromwell Golf Course and Queenstown Golf Course and Wanaka Golf Course across the five days.

This year there will be one field per day, limiting the field to 108 players. The tournament will include at least three Stableford divisions (daily and weekly) plus a weeklong team tournament. Please note that there will be one field, with ladies (yellow tees) and men (white tees) playing in the same division.

There is also the option to play an extra round of golf at either Millbrook Resort or Jack’s Point.

The days of play will be as follows:

Sunday 15th March – Alexandra Golf Club (four tee start from 11am)

Monday 16th March – Arrowtown Golf Club (rolling start at midday)

Tuesday 17th March – Wanaka Golf Club (shotgun start at 2pm)

Wednesday 18th March – Queenstown Golf Club (four tee start from 11am)

Thursday 19th March – Cromwell Golf Club (six tee start from 9.30am)

Dropping Inn Opening Day

The Dropping Inn Opening Day was held on Saturday 24th January.

Great to get our programme underway with our traditional Opening Day 4BBB net, kindly sponsored by Matt and the team at Dropping Inn. Thanks again to Dropping Inn for their sponsorship. Ian was looking at previous winners, (engraved on the trophy) and in 1988 the same trophy was won by Ian’s mother (Bobbie Shore) and her playing partner was Carrick Jones (47 stablefords)
