The new roundabout at Ballantyne Road/9th green
Below please find a design plan link which shows QLDC road /roundabout design (under the photo below). This plan has since changed to move the posts off the boundary and onto the retaining wall. The timber retaining wall has also been extended towards the traffic lights further to be closer to our path off the 9th. Also below is an aerial photo showing where the new retaining wall will be positioned with high posts on it (ready for nets). QLDC is paying for the wall and posts. WGC has to pay for the nets if they are later required. The large pines on right of the 9th fairway, near the green will remain as they are. There is no plan to remove them as part of this project.
Black lines are the boundary lines. The WGC Board has been negotiating with QLDC regarding roading infrastructure proximity to the green and impact on the 9th hole. Apart from one small area where QLDC will encroach into Recreation Reserve Land (at the B9 Greenkeepers entrance way road gate) the roading project will stay within the boundaries of Road Reserve land, so there’s not much we can do to push back on this.
The large shape of the peanut roundabout is necessary in order to allow for the new road into Three Parks along the 18th boundary.
We have been able to alter QLDC’s original design so that their retaining wall timber fence will now be moved from the boundary to down the hill into road reserve more. This will give us more space but there will still be a ball strike risk to cars and pedestrians. Large nets will likely need to be erected if the green will stay where it is.
The roundabout project could commence as early as late September 2026.
The club has received advice from Phil Tataurangi on this, as the first stage of a Masterplan that will be presented to the Board on 17th August 2026.

At the clubs Special General Meeting on 25th June 2026 the Board will seek approval for funding to start a feasibility study with a newly appointed committee who will investigate fundraising initiatives and designs/costs for a particular direction for the project: The options being considered are:

Further to the WGC entering into a deed with TPPL for the replanting of the boundary to holes 17 & 18
22 April 2026: The Board and QLDC Parks & Reserves has approved a replanting plan for the removal of douglas fir boundary trees. The work has commenced to remove the boundary trees from the vehicle entrance gate by the 18th green back to about the 135 marker on the 17th fairway boundary. It is envisaged that this may take through winter 2026 to remove the trees. The new tree plantings and landscaping are scheduled for September 2026. The felling will create debris into the Three Parks land, not the golf course, but there is expected to still be some disruption and Health & Safety requirements during the works. AGM – 6pm Monday 24th November 2025, RESULTS:
Thank you to the 142 Attendees and 88 Proxy submitters for voting on the 2 Motions presented at the AGM.
The motion presented by Liz McRae for 1 Female Board Director as a Rule Change to the constitution, to ensure gender diversity in the Board composition , was passed with 79% For.
The motion presented by Terry Carr (Chairperson) to enter into a Deed with Three Parks Property Limited re Tree Removal on part of hole 17 and all of hole 18, was passed with 91% For.
In regards to where to from here, we will update the members on the progress of the TPPL project in due course.
